Suffolk
Traditionally a rural farming community best known for its peanuts, Suffolk has seen its fair share of growth recently. Being the largest city by land in the Commonwealth of Virginia, people who are interested in building a home or just want some room to breathe have flocked to Suffolk from all over. If quality, affordable housing isn’t a deal sealer, let’s head to the water. Bordering the famous James River that Captain John Smith navigated to form Jamestown, the Nansemond River and all of their collective marshes, Suffolk is the perfect place for the boater, the fisherman or the sportsman.
Historic downtown Suffolk is located right in the middle of the county with quaint shops, historic homes and local restaurants packed with colorful, friendly people. Drive by the old peanut processing plants, some of which are still in operation today. The interest in Suffolk has exploded recently, and there are no signs in slowing down anytime soon!
